Diverse Voices in Quality

Program Background

The PQA Diverse Quality Leaders Program is aligned with PQA’s strategic plan, Blueprint PQA 2025, which calls for PQA to “champion diversity, equity and inclusion and address health disparities in medication use quality.” Additionally, the program is responsive to PQA’s Principles for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, which guide the organization’s efforts to ensure that PQA’s people, programs and partners are diverse, equitable and inclusive.

Quality improvement is not a focus of most health degree programs, so most experience is gained on the job. This program helps expand the diversity of professionals by increasing opportunities to learn, apply and participate in medication use quality improvement initiatives.

This is a broadly inclusive program. The program invites self-nominations from anyone who considers themselves part of a minority or disadvantaged group that has not had sufficient opportunities to learn about or participate in quality improvement work.
