PQA Staff Appointed to Core Quality Measures Collaborative Workgroups

CQMC works to ensure that the right quality measures are in place across different healthcare settings to improve patient care and reduce clinician burden

Alexandria, Va. (December 4, 2018) – Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) staff have been appointed to each of the eight workgroups of the Core Quality Measures Collaborative (CQMC), which was formalized today by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and America’s Health Insurance Plans in partnership with the National Quality Forum. The CQMC is a multi-stakeholder, voluntary effort to promote the consistent use of effective quality measures across the entire healthcare system.

The PQA staff appointed to the workgroups are:

  • Norris Turner, PharmD, PhD, Vice President, Strategic Alliances and Measure Implementation (Accountable Care Organizations/Patient Centered Medical Homes/Primary Care and Gastroenterology)
  • Lisa E. Hines, PharmD, Senior Director, Measure Operations and Analytics (Pediatrics and Orthopedics)
  • Lynn Pezzullo, RPh, CPEHR, Senior Director, Quality Innovation (HIV/Hepatitis C and Medical Oncology)
  • Jake Galdo, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, BCGP, Director, Performance Measurement (Cardiology and Obstetrics & Gynecology)

The workgroups will update existing core measure sets, develop strategies for facilitating implementation across care settings and promote measure alignment. The guiding principles used in creating the core measure are that they be meaningful to patients, consumers, and physicians, while reducing variability in measure selection, collection burden, and cost.

“Patient-centered quality care depends on the consistent use of meaningful quality measures,” Laura Cranston, RPh, PQA Chief Executive Officer, said. “The CQMC is an important effort to promote measure alignment and harmonization across public and private payers. As a leading developer of consensus-based medication performance measures, PQA is proud to be a CQMC member organization and work alongside other healthcare leaders to improve healthcare quality for all Americans.”
