PRESS RELEASE PQA Welcomes Two New Members to its Performance Measurement Team Alexandria, Va. (September 11, 2019) – The Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) has added two members to its Performance Measurement Team, which is responsible for the development, testing, endorsement and maintenance of PQA’s quality measures. Joining the PQA staff are Meghan Gabriel, PhD, Director of Measurement Science and Analytics, and Ben Shirley, Associate Director of Performance Measurement. Gabriel supports PQA measure testing, analytics and research to inform the measure development and implementation process. Prior to joining PQA, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida, where she was responsible for conducting research and teaching biostatistics, health economics, research methods and analytics for quality measurement. She previously worked at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT as an economist, conducting analyses to describe and understand the factors driving adoption, meaningful use and the value of health information technology as it relates to health outcomes. Shirley provides expertise in several phases of PQA’s measure development process, including specification, analysis and consensus-based endorsement. He also works to ensure that PQA measures are scientifically robust, evidence driven and high impact. Previously, he was a Research Analyst at IMPAQ International, where he supported federal claims-based and electronic quality measure development projects in the domains of care coordination and patient safety.
