PQA Diversity in Quality Scholarship Supports Pharmacy Students’ Professional Development

Recipients Will Attend PQA Annual Meeting and Medication Use Quality Live Workshop

Alexandria, Va. (February 14, 2023) – The Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) is providing scholarships for minority health care professional students to attend the 2023 PQA Annual Meeting, May 10-12, in Nashville, Tenn., and participate in the pre-meeting Medication Use Quality (MUQ) Live workshop on May 10. This scholarship opportunity is part of the PQA Diverse Quality Leaders Program.

“Through the Diversity in Quality Scholarship program, PQA reaffirms our commitment to promoting diversity in quality by creating a pathway for individuals of all backgrounds to expand their knowledge, build skills, network with quality experts and learn to implement effective quality programs across health care,” PQA Chief Executive Officer Micah Cost, PharmD, MS, CAE, said.

“Engaging individuals from racial, ethnic and other minority groups who are underrepresented in quality and health care leadership positions will support a future where diverse leaders and teams are empowered to make decisions that are more responsive to the needs, perspectives and interests of diverse populations.”

This program is open to students who have completed at least their second year of study in a pharmacy or other health care degree program – and are part of racial, ethnic and other minority groups who are underrepresented in quality and health care leadership positions. PQA is particularly interested in increasing representation in its programs among individuals who are Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander or Asian.

Self-nominations will be accepted through a form on the PQA website through March 17, 2023. Selected participants will be notified by March 31, 2023. Individuals selected for a scholarship will receive complimentary registration to the meeting and MUQ Live workshop, three nights’ hotel and a travel stipend.

The PQA Annual Meeting is an ideal setting for learning about top issues and emerging trends in medication quality, measure development and implementation, care transformation and technology.
