Q&A with 2025-26 Executive Fellows

The PQA Postdoctoral Executive Fellowship helps produce the next generation of leaders in health care quality through a full-time, 12-month program. Executive Fellows collaborate with PQA staff, members and other stakeholders on a variety of initiatives to improve medication use quality. During the fellowship, individuals will expand their skills and experience in project management, quality measure design and implementation, non-profit administration and association management, and health care quality research.

PQA will welcome Melody Evans and Lauren Moy in June for the 2025-26 year. Learn more about her in this Q&A. The application window for the 2026-27 fellow cycle will open in September.

Melody Evans

Melody Evans is a fourth-year Doctor of Pharmacy candidate at Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy. She earned her bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Alcorn State University. 

During pharmacy school, Melody made a lasting impact through leadership, mentorship, and community service. As the 2024-2025 Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) Region III Facilitator, she oversaw 25 pharmacy school chapters, launching initiatives to promote collaboration and professional development. Her commitment to health equity led her to conduct research on COVID-19 health equity clinical trials and participate in the Duke University Center for AIDS Research Evidence2Practice program. Additionally, she gained experience in clinical development as a regulatory affairs intern with Xcovery Holdings, Inc. 

Melody is passionate about association management, health equity, and performance measurement, aspiring to drive meaningful change in pharmacy practice at the national level. In her free time, she enjoys binge-watching Netflix shows and spending time with friends and family. Her short-term goals include learning Spanish and becoming a Girl Scout Troop Leader. 

After graduating in May, Melody will further her commitment to pharmacy quality and innovation as the 2025-2026 Executive Fellow at PQA. 

What drew you to PQA and the Executive Fellowship program?  

I was drawn to PQA and the Executive Fellowship program because of my passion for quality improvement and my desire to make an impact on the national level in pharmacy leadership and administration. My interest in PQA specifically grew through engaging with past fellows and seeing how PQA provided them with the necessary experiences and resources to have successful pharmacy careers.  

What are your goals for your fellowship this year?  

This year, I aim to develop expertise in healthcare quality measures, focusing on, medication use quality and policy development to drive improvements in pharmacy practice. I will also work to strengthen my leadership and stakeholder engagement skills by building relationships with key healthcare organizations and industry leaders to influence meaningful change. Additionally, I plan to expand my professional network, connecting with fellows and pharmacy leaders who share my passion for transforming healthcare. These experiences will position me for a future leadership role, preparing me to lead quality initiatives at a national organization, association, or healthcare company. 

Lauren Moy

Lauren Moy is a fourth year pharmacy student at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Pharmacy in Chicago, IL. Throughout her pharmacy school career, she has worked at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System (UI Health) Specialty Pharmacy Services as part of the administration team. This longitudinal experience exposed her to variety aspects within a health system specialty pharmacy including accreditation standards, data innovation, and outcomes improvement. She currently serves as the National Executive Committee (NEC) Student President under the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP), promoting advocacy of the field of specialty pharmacy to students around the country.

What drew you to PQA and the Executive Fellowship program?

My interest in the PQA Executive Fellowship stems from my passion for improving medication use quality and patient outcomes, which aligns with my background in specialty pharmacy. Through my APPE rotation at PQA, I gained firsthand experience in measure development, stakeholder engagement, and research, further solidifying my desire to contribute to national quality initiatives. This fellowship provides a unique ability to bridge research in measure development with leadership, allowing me to apply my analytical and clinical insights while developing strategic and operational skills. The fellowship’s emphasis on leadership development, project management, and stakeholder collaboration aligns with my professional goals by providing an ideal opportunity to enhance my ability to drive meaningful change in healthcare. As I aspire to advance pharmacy quality measurement, medication safety, and value-based care, this program offers the hands-on experience and mentorship necessary to shape my career in healthcare quality and outcomes.

What are your goals for your fellowship this year?

During my fellowship year, I hope to develop expertise in quality measure development and implementation by engaging in research that drives meaningful improvements in medication use and patient outcomes. I aim to refine my technical and analytical skills, as well as my leadership and project management abilities, by positioning myself to contribute effectively to the evolving landscape of pharmacy quality and outcomes. Additionally, I look forward to collaborating closely with the PQA team, leveraging their expertise and resources to support initiatives that advance medication-use quality. I also seek to participate in opportunities that foster meaningful partnerships and drive innovation in performance measurement. Through this work, I am committed to fulfilling PQA’s mission of optimizing medication safety, adherence, and appropriate

use, ensuring that quality measures translate into actionable improvements in patient care and healthcare decision-making.
