Removing Barriers to HIV Care: A Pharmacy-Based Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Model

As community pharmacies continue to innovate and offer enhanced services to patients, it is crucial that they can demonstrate their value in the larger health care system. Quality measures are important tools to monitor and drive improvement and are used in payer-pharmacy value-based arrangements to evaluate the impact pharmacy services have on patients’ health.

This PQA Quality Forum brings together a panel of thought leaders from a PQA-Community Pharmacy Foundation (CPF) initiative to identify and prioritize measure concepts that demonstrate the value of community pharmacy practice. They will:
1. Review the PQA-CPF collaborative initiative to identify and prioritize pharmacy measure concepts that demonstrate the value of innovative pharmacy services
2. Discuss lessons learned from health plans and pharmacies engaging in value-based arrangements
3. Describe the role of technology vendors to support quality measure data capture and reporting

PQA Senior Director of Quality Innovation Lynn Pezzullo will moderate the panel that includes Troy Trygstad of CPESN USA, Trista Pfeiffenberger of Community Care of North Carolina, Todd Sorenson of the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, and Samm Anderegg of DocStation. PQA Education Director Amanda Ryan will host the forum.
