We are excited to welcome attendees next week to the 2025 PQA Leadership Summit and PQA Convenes: Artificial Intelligence in Quality Medication Use at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Va. This year's summit will focus on Blueprint PQA 2030, PQA's next strategic plan.

Evolving Roles for Pharmacists  

To close out American Pharmacists Month, experts across multiple specialties including representatives from Walgreens and UPMC Health Planhighlighted the critical and evolving role of pharmacists in patient care, including their accessibility and trust within communities; their specialized knowledge; ability to support medication adherence, affordability, and patient education; and their collaboration with other health care professionals.

Examining Adherence and Outcomes    
A research team, including an author from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, has examined the association between longitudinal trajectories of adherence to medication for hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes and clinical outcomes. The results discuss the potential of long-term adherence measures, such as trajectory modeling or persistence metrics, that more accurately clinical outcomes.

Collaborating to Expand Pharmacy Services  
PQA Board member Amina Abubakar, who serves on the PQA Board representing CPESN USA shares insights on her successful work to collaborate with medical providers and expand pharmacist-led clinical services: "We’re in a value-based care system now, and these providers are looking to buy value. Your activities of medication adherence techniques or cost reduction [are] very valuable."

 

Artificial Intelligence in Medication Use Quality  

Artificial intelligence is transforming health care, including medication use. PQA Convenes: Artificial Intelligence in Medication Use Quality will bring together PQA members and health technology experts to explore AI and quality in medication use on November 13, in Arlington, Va

Throughout the event, you will hear from nationally recognized speakers who will share expert insights on AI and the quality of medication use. Over 20 speakers will address the following questions:

  • How is AI being used in real-world health care settings today?
  • What is the current use and future opportunities of AI in quality measurement?
  • How are health care stakeholders collaborating across the industry and in partnership with technology companies?
  • How are health care providers and policy makers working to ensure that AI use in health care is safe, responsible and patient-centered?
