Welcome to Five For Friday!

We will share news and insights from the meeting in the coming weeks, but opportunities to engage with PQA and fellow members are available to you throughout the year.

PQA has 175 diverse member organizations from across health care, and seven organizations have joined PQA so far this year, adding to the rich diversity of perspectives that inform our approach to medication use quality. Learn more below about the resources and engagement opportunities available to you.

We also highlight our members' perspectives on on adherence, medication therapy management and artificial intelligence. If you have news you'd like for us to spotlight in an upcoming Five For Fridaysend us an email

Rethinking Medication Adherence

ISPOR’s Medication Adherence and Persistence Special Interest Group has published a report with valuable insights into the perspectives of key stakeholders on interventions to improve medication adherence. The report was published in the May 2025 issue of Value in Health. Report authors include representatives from CVS HealthNational Patient Advocate Foundation and University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science.

Improving BP and Obesity Outcomes with MTM
Researchers conducted a retrospective study to assess the impact of medication therapy management (MTM) on hypertension and obesity control in Southern Maryland. MTM reduced uncontrolled hypertension by 17.5 percentage points, weight by 3.6 lbs, and BMI by 0.6 kg/m2. The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy P3 Program partnered with the study’s investigators.

Adapting AI for Pharmacy Clinical Practice
The adoption of AI in any health care practice comes with time, deliberation, and development, according to NCPDP's Rick Sage, Executive Vice President of Innovation & Standards. But as more and more providers, and even everyday patients, begin to better understand its functions, pharmacists too will gradually increase their use of AI, be able to expand their scope as providers, and best of all, care for patients while doing so.
